About the event

In February 2020, the sixth annual Chinese New Year Spectacular took place at Carnegie Hall, blending classic Chinese and Western performing arts to celebrate the Year of the Rat. Produced by the Lily Li Future Foundation, the event featured a diverse lineup of performers, including a traditional "Kunqu" opera, dynamic violinist Deni Bonet, operatic soprano Quan Chen, and pianist Cong Bi. The show celebrated cultural exchange on one of the world's greatest stages. It exemplified the culture of sharing the Lily Li Future Foundation instills through its work.

This unique event offered audiences a glimpse into the beauty of Chinese art forms alongside Western classics. The traditional "Kunqu" opera, with its elaborate costumes and intricate storytelling, transported the audience to ancient China, while Bonet’s lively violin performance, combining modern and classical elements, added a dynamic and playful energy. Chen’s operatic mastery and Bi’s piano virtuosity further enhanced the cultural fusion, making the evening a grand celebration of artistry.

The Chinese New Year Spectacular continues to be a vibrant example of cross-cultural collaboration, uniting people through shared appreciation for music and performance in a venue like no other.
